Professional Experience

Georgia Robinette has practiced law for over 15 years with a focus on labor and employment, employee benefits, HIPAA and data privacy and contract negotiations. She represents and advises employers and plan sponsors on the state and federal laws governing employment and employee benefits. With experience advising employers on all facets of the human resources function, she brings a holistic view and practical, proactive advice to your organization.

She has extensive experience in employment law, including advising management on human resources systems and policies, maintaining a non-discriminatory workplace, managing employment claims and litigation, representing employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and OFCCP divisions of the Department of Labor and advising on litigation avoidance and strategies to improve available litigation defenses. She understands that the best approach to employment issues and disputes is to prevent them. Georgia also drafts employment policies, contracts, covenants not to compete, non-solicitation agreements and confidentiality agreements.

In her employee benefits practice, Georgia advises plan sponsors on compliance and benefit plan administration issues. She is experienced dealing with issues arising from the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, the ADA, FMLA, HIPAA and COBRA and provides counsel on plan audit readiness, the design and administration of welfare benefit plans (such as life, disability, accident, health, cafeteria and wellness), retirement plans (such as pension and 401(k)) and incentive bonus programs. Her experience includes advice to plan fiduciaries on significant transactions, including pension plan funding with employer stock and real estate contributions, and she has negotiated service provider agreements with benefit plan vendors.

Georgia also has experience handling contractual disputes and negotiating significant commercial contracts, including those for professional services, sale of goods, software licensing and development, maintenance and support, SaaS, hosting, distributor, reseller, equipment leasing, online terms and conditions and other agreements. She has negotiated contracts for the sales and procurement departments of a Fortune 500 nationwide company.
